chase worthy: edition 002
When we worked in a newsroom, we dreaded calendar news hooks.
Look closely enough, and there’s a day for everything — Sisters Day, Kissing Day, National Dog Day. Some are obviously made up, and meaningless (also obviously). Others are legitimate and deserving of coverage. But how? How do you cover the same events year after year in new, smart and interesting ways?
Well, coming up in a couple of weeks is a big one: International Women’s Day. So for this edition of Chase-Worthy, we’re featuring women who most definitely meet the bar.
Chase-Worthy:
Jannies Le
Executive Director, Armagh House
jannies@armaghhouse.ca
Why:
As Executive Director of Armagh House in the GTA, Jannies has a bold idea: what if we could reach families at risk of violence before that violence erupts?
The Chrysalis Project is a groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind early intervention program in the Region of Peel. By reaching families early, the project works to address conflict before it escalates into abuse.
Jannies and her team at Armagh House provide transitional housing for women escaping abuse — a safe place where they can come with their children and recover, rediscover themselves and rebuild their independence.
Location: Mississauga, ON

Sarah Bundy
Co-Founder & CEO of Athena Collective
sarah@athenacollective.co
Why:
Sarah has a front row seat to one of the unexpected consequences of return-to-office mandates: a growing number of Canadian women leaving the workforce to start businesses. As a serial entrepreneur herself, she knows how difficult it can be to balance career and family – and how rewarding being a founder can be.
Sarah has founded five companies — but the Athena Collective holds a special place in her heart. Empowering women and building a community powered by them is a lifelong dream realized.
Since the post-Pandemic return-to-office push, Sarah says even more women are taking the leap, wanting control over their time — not having to apologize for sick kids or school pickup.
Hooks: Return to Work • International Women’s Day • Female Founders • Women Entrepreneurs • Networking

Co-Founder & CEO of Athena Collective
Why?
International Women’s Day is a great opportunity to reflect on equality — how far we’ve come and how far we are from gender parity in so many areas. Kelly is pushing for balance in one area in particular: sex.
After living in the United States and working for Johnson & Johnson, you could say she had an epiphany. She decided to move back to Canada and start a company dedicated to female pleasure.
Epiphany makes arousal serum, with plans to soon introduce lube and arousal supplements.
